Gentle Yoga and Writing Workshop
Just as yoga opens our hearts and encourages us to experience our bodies in the present moment, writing opens us to experience our stories--whether from memory or imagination--more fully. This two-hour workshop integrates the practices of yoga and writing, allowing each participant the opportunity to open heart, mind, and spirit.
During the workshop, we will move our bodies through gentle yoga postures, stilling our minds in meditation, and letting go of the inner critic in a safe and supportive writing circle. As we begin to inhabit our bodies more peacefully through yoga and meditation, the creative spirit unfolds--and when we write from this centered space, we write with greater ease. And just as we allow our writing to emerge without judgement, we can also begin to accept each yoga posture as it is.
No previous yoga or writing experience is required; space is limited to 12 participants, so please register early.
The yoga: Our focus will be a gentle, meditative practice that focuses on breathwork and finding inner stillness; even participants with no yoga experience will find the practice accessible.
The writing: Our writing together is prompt-driven and based on the belief that everyone who writes is a writer. No ‘homework’ is required off the mat. The stillness generated by yoga allows space for our stories to emerge.
Bring your yoga mat and whatever you like to write with. Additional paper and pens will be available, as well as a few yoga mats.
